Bentstar Flot

Activated bentonite powder specially developed for application during the flotation process.
Bentstar Flot is available in the form of a very fine beige powder with an impalpable consistency and free of any residual inert sand. This bentonite was specially developed for application in flotation technology. It has a suitable grain size that facilitates the adhesion of microbubbles of air over a large surface area, significantly improving the flocculation formation process. Bentstar Flot is a technical bentonite with sodium activation, specially designed to meet two basic requirements:

  • It is able to swell rapidly in water and disperse effectively in the must mass.
  • It has an optimal specific gravity that prevents it from sinking excessively, which could cause excessive flocculation at the bottom of the flotation tank. During the flotation process, solid particles and floccules of the clarifier are transported upward by the action of microbubbles of gas (such as air or nitrogen) and then removed by special mechanical devices. The addition of bentonite proves particularly effective in continuous flotation systems, offering several advantages with regard to stabilization and cleaning of musts.
  • Bentstar Flot should only be used in flotation systems and is not suitable for traditional clarification operations. Inappropriate use could impair sedimentation of lees, leading to separation problems and ineffective clarification.

Montmorillonite clay: 90-100%
Compounds derived from silica: 0-10%

30-150 g/hl, depending on need and type of floater.

Disperse Bentstar Flot in cold water at a ratio of 1:10 in the tank provided with an agitator, allowing it to agitate for a few hours (6 to 12 hours) for perfect swelling. Then proceed to pour the product in line with the wort to be flotated.

25 kg bag.
Store in a cool, dry place.
