CMC

Food additive (E466) used as a thickener in fruit juices.
Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a cellulose derivative in which some hydroxyl groups are replaced with carboxymethyl groups. This versatile compound is widely used in the food industry due to its unique properties, including its hydrophilicity, viscosity, ability to form grease-resistant films, and excellent stabilising and bonding ability. Some of the main characteristics of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC):
  • Easily soluble in water.
  • Acts as a glue and forms strong films.
  • CMC solutions retain their stability for extended periods.
  • It is neither a surfactant nor a foaming agent.
  • It is an environmentally friendly product that is completely biodegradable.
  • It functions as an emulsifier and thickener.
  • It resists chemical and physical agents as well as the action of putrefactive enzymes.
In the food industry, carboxymethyl cellulose is commonly used as a food additive (E466) for various purposes, including thickening in fruit juices.

100% carboxymethylcellulose.

Stabilizer in emulsions: 0.2-1%
Aqueous gels: 1-3%

Preliminary laboratory tests are recommended according to the field of use.<br
Dissolve preferably in warm water for better dissolution.

1 kg bag, 25 kg bag.
Store in a cool and dry place.
