essedielle gum arabic processing process
Over the years, we have steadily perfected the gum arabic process, keeping as its primary goal to respect its inherent qualities and to offer a natural, high-quality product to customers.

essedielle and gum arabic: a 30-year history
For more than 30 years, we have been involved in the processing of gum arabic. Initially, the finished product was sourced from other suppliers, but as time went on, the need emerged to manage the entire process in-house in order to better meet customers’ needs. Thus, in 1994, preliminary tests were started both in the laboratories and in the production division. After numerous technical tests and quality controls, essedielle’s first signature gum arabic brand was created: Stabigum®.
Given the enthusiasm of our customers for this product, our commitment to technical testing never stopped. In the years that followed, we focused on perfecting the production process and acquiring state-of-the-art machinery and production equipment. As a result of this commitment, we have introduced other varieties of essedielle gum arabic to the market over the years, including Complex Gum®, which has been a great success among our customers.
The essedielle manufacturing process
We import raw material directly from producing countries and from reliable importers, since the quality of the final product depends mainly on the quality of the raw material that reaches our laboratories. The selection of suppliers has been carefully considered for this very reason. We also choose our importers to support local communities and promote local production.
Before the transformation process begins, the rubber undergoes scrupulous testing to ensure compliance not only with quality and technological criteria, but above all with regulatory parameters regarding chemical, physical and microbiological safety.
The first step involves melting in cold water, a process that takes longer than using hot water but avoids oxidation of the rubber, thus preserving its qualities to the maximum.
After a resting period in the tank to allow the coarser particles to settle, the next steps involve sequential filtrations at decreasing micrometers. At this point, a crucial stage of production is reached: long-chain gums, sourced from Senegal acacia, are ready to be bottled in the different formats after the necessary analytical checks and approval.
In contrast, processing continues for short-chain gums from Seyal acacia.
This gum arabic passes through a resin plant, which not only breaks down the polymer chains but also demetallizes and decolorizes the gum.
This fully automated process continues with further filtrations until a final micrometer of 0.1 µ is reached. This allows gum arabic to be non-clogging when added to wine, allowing it to be used at any stage, before or after final filtration before bottling. All stages, from raw material to finished product, are supported by our in-house analysis laboratory, ensuring consistency of characteristics and quality over time, always with the least invasive approach possible to the precious raw material.
